Tiny Beetle
Roger Thomason
This little one was found at Scatsta Airport by one of our cleaning staff (who are now on insect watch for me Smile) This one is about 2.5mm. Anyone recognise it.

Regards Roger

Hi, Roger!

It's Anobiidae. I first thought of Stegobium paniceum, which is most abundant in buildings, but the legs seem a little bit long. Maybe Anobium sp. (punctatum?).
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hi Juergen,
I've trawled through Frank Koehler's Website and looked at both your suggestions..Smile.I'm afraid the antennae of this one is different from either of those. In fact I can't find any among Anobiidae that does fit, although Ernobius mollis (F) comes closest. Might have to send this one off to Frank for his opinion.

Regards Roger

Yes, could be a male Ptinus fur. Shame on me, I find them often here at the wintergarden. But I had never seen one without white spots.

Males:

And female:

Best regards,

Thanks for the suggestion Paul....so you do have a useful function sometimes....Grin
Shame on you Juergen? I don't think so Smile. Shame on me for not trawling further than I did.
I sent photo's off to Frank Koehler so he will maybe confirm your idea on P.fur.

Regards Roger, from the still snowy North...8 months on the trot, novelty wore off after the first week.
