Would this be Cylindromyia auriceps?
lynkos
Carissimi (as they say here), would this Tachinidae be Cylindromyia auriceps, or something very similar? About 7 mm long, photographed today in an open, grassy, dry area in the countryside near Rome. As ever, thanks, Sarah.

Hi Sarah

It is definitely a Cylindromyia and it certainly looks like auriceps.
You got that quite right.
In the third picture, one can see a small pair of apical scutellar bristles present. This rules out C. interrupta. However, the dust pattern on the thorax seems to be more like interrupta in the third picture. The angle of view may cause this problem.
All considered, this would lead to believe that your ID is the best based on this pictures.
