Diptera pupae on fungi?
blowave
Hello,

These are less than 1mm, maybe around 0.75mm. I found 5 or 6 on the same decaying fungi which the Dromyzidae egg is on.

Taken today, 2nd November. My garden near Lincoln UK.

Posting 3 different pupae

Not convinced this is dipterous - how about a seed from some nearby plant?

Um, you could be right! Nearby are a few things, there was a Ragwort, Achillea, and I have a few things at the water's edge in the drain such as Lythrum salicaria.

Funny that they should have a clear casing?

I have a side view which gives some idea of the other end. It looks flat with a bump at either side..

I wonder if these developments might change things.

On 5th November, I took pics of one which had a small dark red 'blood spot' under the jelly-like surface.

On 15th November I took pics of one which had an even larger 'blood spot'. Unfortunately the following day the fungi was breaking up and a bird had scattered the pieces so I probably won't find any now to check the progress! They were difficult to see as they were.

This one is from 5th

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
