Dear Forum,

Is this a larva of a fly or....?

The larva lost it white skin and has already turned into a pupa.

I think this larvae of a moth, because of pseudo legs on abdomen and cocoon! Smile

Of course I think second picture is another Lepidopter, because it has a cremaster and it is chrysalid, then I guess second picture is a kind of butterfly! Smile

Okay I thought it must me something else than a butterfly or moth. Silly me Smile
Maybe because there was a fly sitting on it.

We shall see what will come out of the pupa.

Thanks Sara.

If the larva only has one pair of prolegs in addition to the anal claspers, then it's a larva of one of the Geometrid moths. That narrows it down to about 350 species if we're dealing with a member of the UK fauna. Smile
