Acidia cognata (Tephritidae). There are much more handsome representatives in this family, but in others too  !

After further research I would now tend to say: it's Rhagoletis alternata. The wing pattern does not seem to fit for Acidia cognata. Please correct me if I should be wrong. Thanks Chris |

You are right, I was too fast 10 years ago  At that time, I relied on the identification of my fly in https://diptera.i...d_id=14356. It is the same species as yours, and meanwhile I found out that it is Rhagoletis alternata indeed. But I forgot that I transmitted the wrong identification to you...So I support Rhagoletis alternata now!
