Thanks for your reply, unfortunately fuliginosa is not present in the check list of the Italian fauna. The following are the only possible for the area where I found the speciment:

Choerades fimbriata (Meigen, 1820) (N, S)
Choerades fulva (Meigen, 1804) (N, S)
Choerades gilva (Linnaeus, 1758) (N, S)
Choerades ignea (Meigen, 1820) (N, S)
Choerades marginata (Linnaeus, 1758) (N, S)

So I think it is better for this speciment : Choerades sp.

Claudio

A closer look learns that mentioned C. fuliginosa should hav dense hair on scutum, this one does not. But, by default, you can rule out C. gilva, ignea, marginata. Leaving C. fimbriata and fulva. I am pretty sure it is a female and if so.....C. cf fulva

Thanks Dysmachus but I checked also the Fauna Europea about the distribution of Choerades fuliginosa. It is not present in Italy.

You probably have to add C. fuliginosa to to the Italian checklist....Cool If it is indeed C. fuliginosa, then it seems typical for that species that the antennae are standing far apart......or is it a coincidence.....
