agree! paper wasp. vespidae. Not so far from genus Polistes spp....

?A difficulty: ?it would be said that there is a double contracting with the petiole (Eumenidae), but without the claws difficult to say Eumenidae(bifides) or simple Vespidae Polistinae! Wink

In Japan there are some very similar but not conspecific Polistes species, for example P. snelleni. See my Japan Wildlife gallery.
