Perhaps we can use this thread to give hints about nice Diptera photo galleries that doesn't quite fit the Web links. It can show excellent photos, but not allways identified species. Private: ? Krister Hall (SE) ? Tom Murray (US) Communities: ? BugGuide (US) ? Cedar Creek (US) ? Fotocommunity (DE) ? Fugle og Natur (DK) ? Polskiego Towarzystwa Entomologicznego (PL) ? TrekNature (-) ? Waarneming (NL) Edited by crex on 15-02-2007 07:39 |

Hello Crex ! (don?t know your real name) A good idea to find new links, but I would like to have only links to well identified fly photos. There are tons of photos in the internet, but without names. If you find names, they are wrong or belong to a common "photo insect". The main problem are missing collected specimen. This is the only way to get new species for galleries! Anyone don?t agree? On a german web page - I don?t tell a name - you will find 9482 Diptera photos at the moment. Wonderful photos sometimes, but without system and names a large mountain of digital trash ;-) Best regards Frank --------------------------------------------------- Col.: http://www.koleop...de/gallery Het.: http://www.hetero... --------------------------------------------------- |

Well, then this list is going to be very short ... and who am I to judge if all photos are correctly identified!? That?s the risk. There are thousands of professional and semiprofessional macrophoto pages in the www. If you are looking for beetles (for example) you will find the same species again and again - common species on flowers, common species in houses, in gardens ... To create large scientific photo galleries you need communities and there can be only a few of them. Tell me, tell me Perhaps we can persuade the photographer to join diptera.info community :-) Ok, you will be disappointed, because it?s like described below and the photographers are usualy not interested to know the names! http://www.fotoco...pc/cat/726 Best regards Frank |

I thought Diptera photographers might be interested to know I have set up a Yahoo group for anyone who wishes to discuss matters relating to CombineZ my software for stacking images to gain greater depth of field. of course the techniques are the same as for Helicon Focus but the specifics of the programms are different. http://groups.yah...p/combinez Alan Hadley Alan Hadley |

It didn?t accpet two very similar photos... which is the version now? |
