Hi, Here is a female i found in Auvergne (Massif central) this summer that bother me a bit: Everything point out to Neomochtherus, but femurs are too red to be geniculatus and seems to be really dark for a pallipes, what is you opinion? ![]() ![]() About 10mm, Araules (Auvergne) about 1000m hight Edited by clovis on 11-04-2015 14:56 |

Hi Clovis, Have a look at the sternites, are they black (with only a little bit of dusting) or are they grey (brownish) with dusting? If they are black, this would be pallipes (with very dark femora) Greetings, Reinoud Field guide to the robber flies of the Netherlands and Belgium: https://www.jeugdbondsuitgeverij.nl/product/field-guide-to-the-robberflies-of-the-netherlands-and-belgium/ https://www.nev.nl/diptera/ |
