Hi again, is this Helophilus trivittatus or a different Helophilus? I'm not sure why I once named this picture H. trivittatus because in fact I couldn't have known how to determinate it... but maybe it was coincidentally correct ;-) 2014-09-25, Germany, Schleswig-Holstein, Mohrkirch Thank you! Hi Lennart, this speciment is female, probably Helophilus trivittatus. Would be nice, if somebody confirm that. Other option is H. affinis and I am not so familiar with that species. But it seems to me, that in the photo we can loosely see yellow face, which is tipycal for H. trivittatus. Colour patterns of the legs look as H. trivittatus too. Anežka |

Hi Anežka, that's good to know, thank you. So my guess wasn't that bad... I can barely find any information about H. affinis - can that species be found in Northern Germany at all, does someone know this? Greetings, Lennart |

H. trivittatus female indeed. It is not an uncommon species in all Europa.
