Hello Gert, one for the Syrphidae forum: Cheilosia sp. (scutellata??). I would be very interested in an ID, too. These flies were one of two Cheilosia species (the other was the big C. canicularis), that were numerous here in northwest Germany in the last weeks, too. They mostly visited umbellifers (Heracleum sphondylium), whereas C. canicularis could be found on yellow composites.
