Its a male of Philanthus pulchellus, a common bee-wolf species in Spain (Familiy Crabronidae - Sphecid wasp).

May I use this foto for our gallery on www.galerie.hymis.eu?

Hi Christian. If you provide a forum at your site you'll probably get alot more Hymenoptera photos to use in your gallery. I hesitate putting my non-diptera photos here ...

I agree that crex's words...

I agree with both, but we haven't yet this forum. And I don't know when it will come, because it is the job of Alexander, who will do the whole programming on www.hymis.eu....

Nevertheless, for temporal use, there is a very nice forum on www.insektenfotos.de with a lot of Hymenoptera. Main language is German, but you I think you alre welcome to contribute English contributions too.

It's a great site Christian and I wish you well with it Smile Though I would say (sorry if it seems rude) but if you make the main language English you might get more interest from outside Germany - you have a .eu domain so it looks like you want to cover the whole of Europe. I know I am biassed (being English) but, especially amongst amateurs, German is not a common/popular language but most entomologists from all countries have at least some English. Smile

1. We plan to cover Europe and more, and we need an general English site, I know. But for the moment, also the German part is big enough to take most of our free time...

2. The Central European and German spoken community is large. I think, most of the people working seriously with Hymenoptera Aculeata in Europe for the moment, comes from Germany, Austria or Switzerland (or Netherlands) and speak or understand German. An other important part comes from France and Belgium, and these people often don't like English so much...
Nevertheless, English is the most important scientific language in the world, and e.g. I publish all my taxonomic papers in English now.

3. In Germany also exists a large photo community, which prefer to communicate in German. So, I believe, that the main part of members in a new Forum will come from Gemany, and not from abroad. But, also here I think that we offer an English spoken part and a really international forum.

Regards, Christian
