A couple of weeks ago I found this strange, quite small bumblebee on the flowers on our terrace. It had a rather flat and pointed face and the thorax was brown with a distinct dark centre. Also it had a small brown tip to the abdomen. Two days later I found another four or five of the same bumblebees at the edge of a small wooded area along the river Linge with lots of flowers. They were foraging mainly on Echium vulgare. Does anyone know which species this could be? Thanks in advance! http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |

Thanks cthirion. Is this a more or less regular colour variation then, with that black patch on the thorax? I never noticed it before.
