Parasitic wasp
elck
Hello,
Could anyone say something about where to look for the name of this wasp please?
Regards,
Elck (coccinellidae in dutch:http://stippen.nl)

Looks like a cynipoid wasp - possibly family Eucoilidae, but a specimen would be needed to find out which species it is - if there is a key to the species in your part of Europe Smile

I have a specimen.
I'm interested as I think it parasitised a coccinellidae
I'm about 80% sure the larva emerged from an adult coccinellida, leaving the beetle dead. The pupae was attached to the beetle.

Where should I go from here to know more?

If this is a eucoilid (which i am fairly sure of - from the wing-venation and the raised disc on the scutellum) then they are mainly parasitoids of dipteran pupae - but it's a very under-studdied group so anything is possible. Here in the UK the key is:

Quinlan, J. 1978. Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea, Eucoilidae. Handbooks for the identification of British insects 8, 1 ( b ) : 1-58.

But note that family Eucoilidae has been downgraded to a subfamily of Figitidae now so might be listed in modern literature as Eucoilinae Smile

I have used the key and found it works fine to genus but I have always had trouble getting further.
