No, that is a spring species. In October it must be one of the few late summer/autumn Bibionids.

Sorry, I have to amend may post. This picture ( … and in case of necessity I have some other photos of the same subject) have been taken exactly the 10th of May 2008 (I made a big mess!).

In this case Bibio marci could be an acceptable hypotesis?

I would rule out Bibio marci by the white haired pleurae. It looks a lot closer to Bibio hortulanus but I cannot be sure without a dorsal view to see venation.
