Found at Gamkaberg Nature Reserve, WSW of Oudtshoorn. in Western Cape, South Africa on 2.I.2019. More and bigger pics here. I think it's a female Stiphrolamyra sp., most likely S. hermanni Londt, 1983. Edited by jgruber111 on 30-05-2019 11:59 |

Stiphrolamyra sp.; does not key well in Londt 1983 revision of genus - but evidently not S. hermanni. |

Thanks much Eric. What character(s) point away from S. hermanni? Are there any closer crops I can provide that would help with ID? |

Jeff - my main problem is with 'vestiture' (setae covering body). This sp. is exceedingly short-setose (almost spiny), whereas most Stiphrolamyra (all others?) are glabrous. (And I have a reference specimen ID'd as hermanni which is glabrous). This is surprisingly not mentioned in key, hence my caution with ID. Cheers, Eric |
