Hi, found this fly today. Is it Scenopinus niger?

Thank you for your suggestions

On the one hand, there are several photos of such "striped" Scenopinidae flies in the internet (e.g. https://diptera.i...pid=168512) without a species name. On the other hand, we have only three members of the family in Germany, the Scenopinus species S. fenestralis, S. glabrifrons, and S. niger. Only S. niger has black legs. So it is this species! The white "stripes" seem to be the membranes between the tergites that become visible if the fly expands its abdomen. In contracted state, the whole abdomen looks black as usual.

Hi Sundew,
I swept Scenopinus griseus (Kröber, 1913) in dunes at river Elbe last year. This additional species was published by Andreas Stark in 2015 for Germany for the first time. Nevertheless it is not the species shown here.

Great - thank you both for that valuable information and the source! So also in this case Fauna Europaea needs to be updated (as well as Wikipedia), but who is tackling it?

No-one can access Fauna Europaea for updates at the moment and that has been the case for too many years already.
