Atrichops crassipes (Athericidae)
Sundew
Hi,
Today I saw this interesting male on foliage close to a clear brook running through a small town in southwestern Germany (20 km west of Stuttgart). It turned out to be Atrichops crassipes, one of the three species of Athericidae native to Germany. As its aquatic larvae rely on uncontaminated streaming water, it is very important to maintain such near-natural ecosystems. Here are some pictures.

The long fore tarsi constantly scan the ground.

Very nice find, rare species everywhere.
First picture could pass for Rhagio lineola, if you didn’t finish your breakfest coffee.

Grin That's what I expected - a tiny Rhagio... But with kidney-shaped 3rd antenna segment and closed anal cell it escaped any Rhagio key - and even the family! Well, the Athericidae (1973) are a young split-off of the Rhagionidae, so there is a lot of resemblance.
