I figured out the epistoma - the area between the mouth edge and the antenna, so no rush for a glossary item.

maybe nycteribiid has no halteres as well. They don?t need them for nothing... if some species has no wings.

There are several more apterous flies without halters, for example in Sciaridae and Cecidomyiidae.

no unique... braulid flies has no halteres as well.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
