Thank you all for keeping the site moving onwards. The Diptera Gallery is growing steadily, though it is mainly due to one major contributor. (Thank you, Gerard!) Just like the literature database I hope to develop (really, I am working on it), a gallery has the potential to grow excessively. So, please keep images as small as possible in size (bytes), so we can enjoy a growing Gallery for a long time. I realise I may have to migrate the site to larger hosting server, but may disrupt services for a while. For the same reason you may see that occasionally a forum image that was posted as an attachment is suddenly in the message itself. In that case I have uploaded it to another server and added the link to the image. That should not disrupt anything, though. Enjoy!
Paul
I have added a Diptera Gallery. I just added a single image so far because it is up to you as well to fill the Gallery. The three albums and the single picture are just to give you an idea. Consult the FAQ before you start asking further questions but to answer one of the most important: submission of images can be done by sending them to the webmaster.
Diptera.info gaining pace
Hello everyone,
As you can see, the site is gaining pace: well over fourty members and well over the 3000 mark for the number of unique visits. Especially the forum proves to be popular. Keep on posting all those interesting queries en questions, but please remember, general discussion is also allowed!
Further, let me again draw attention to the weblinks category. Submit all those interesting sites there. I will organise them into the correct categories at as time moves on, they will be moved to the main categories you can find in the menu on the left.
I am looking into the possibilities of building an online database of literature on Diptera. As soon as I have found a suitable interface and collected the first content, I will notify you all here. It may then be hosted on another server (because such databases may become very big), but it will always be accessible from Diptera.info.
Keep on the good work!

As of the 11th of May 2004 the Diptera.info site is visible to the public. Though it was under development for about two years already, the way it was set up demanded much more time than I could spend on it. It was about time that something should really be done with the site. Well, here it is. I will be feeding the already prepared data into the site gradually, but you have the opportunity to add your own information.
I hope you will enjoy it.
Paul
Please bear with me, a site is not created in one day! Do not be put off if you think there is too little content. Create your own!
