The 10,000th unique visit coincides with an upgrade of PHP-Fusion from version 4.01 to 5. The average visitor will hardly hardly notice the upgrade, unless there are some unsolved issues. If you find any errors, please send them to me and I will see whether it is because I installed it incompletely or that the system shows some quircky behaviour. You can use the Contact Me link (everyone) or the Private Message system (Members only).

International Code for Zoological Nomenclature on-line
Finally, it is available on the web. For those of use who like to know why species names have to change (at least some of them) and why some of the proposed changes are invalid: check out the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature. You can find the link in Web Links -> Resources section.
A keep checking the other sections as well. New web links are added regularly!

Keep looking at the Downloads section as well. I will be regularly adding links to downloads. Mainly pdf's of publications but I will keep an eye out for other intersting things as well. Any suggestions can be sent to the webmaster.

The first document is listed for download. It is a pdf version of the ICZN publication of Opinion 2088 (Case 3221) where the use of the genus name Opomyza is conserved by designating a neotype for the type species of the genu. The International Commision on Zoological Nomenclature recommends a wide distribution of reprints of the paper, so here it is for all of you. Tell everyone about it!

About six months onwards...
We are nearing the 60 members limit and have well over the 7000 unique visits. You really do the site honour!
I will be slowly expanding the Web Links section but, please, feel free to submit your's as well. I have asked the PHP-Fusion developers for the option to add images to the web links and that may be added in the future. If that happens, I will probably do some reorganisation with the links in Dipterist's communication and directories and Diptera catalogues and collections, but until that time, make sure that you check both these pages and the Web Links if you are in search of a particular site.
The next version of PHP-Fusion is under development and currently undergoes beta testing and is expected to be released in December. This version will expand some of the features of the site.. Some high-lights: Right now there is only the forum search but the new version will give a have more search capabilities. A newsletter function will be added. Several navigation systems (in forum and elsewhere) will be improved.
Please note, that I may start editing some of the subject titles in the forum. Search engines like Google cannot index pages queries from a database when the is no true url. So right now, only the titles of the threads are indexed and when you look for 'pelidnoptera' the recent thread will never appear because the name is not in the title. So, do not be shocked if you see that the thread you started some time ago suddenly has another title.
Keep on buzzing!
