hmm... crossveins here don't seem to be infuscated... maybe the flash masks those. I cannot see if the fore femur is darkened or not...
eyes are bare! not hairy. So I doubt if this is really Phaonia scutellata.

As a humble amateur I have to listen and learn. I had the fly identifyed in the danish www.fugleognatur.dk.
It will be the subject for a new thread in forum, so it can be put all right.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
