All females I saw rested on the ground in low vegetation. The color pattern helped a lot to let them blend into the vegetation. Sharp shadows and small wite pebbles look pretty much like this fly in real life. So although it stand out boldly on a photo, in reality they are quite well camouflaged!

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
