Two more Drosophila at my balcony
Dmitry Gavryushin
June 27, 2006.
I treated them to a nice portion of crushed overripe bananas.
Size of the first one is around 2mm.

This one is bigger, 2.5 to 3mm.

One more view.

First Drosophila melanogaster group. Males can be recognise by the presences on one combe of teeth on the fore tarsi.
Second Drosophila repleta group. Moutled appearance because of spots on mesonotum. Will have to run that one through the key.

Thanks a lot Paul,
I'll wait for other guests...

The second one appears to be D. hydei. I cannot see if the tergites have pale lateral spots or not, but since the distal part of the first costal section is not darkened it should be that species.
