is this Brachymeria minuta or something else? And is it a soldierfly parasite? It looked very much like a Stratiomyd as it climbed about in bracken in north london, so I wondered who was imitating who thanks, Jeremy |

Yep. Hymenoptera, chalcidid one (s.f. Chalcidinae, genus Brachymeria). They're ectoparasites, but soldieflies are not their target.

Butterflies' larvae are more "prone" to be the target of the female. |

This looks more like Brachymeria tibialis than B. minuta. |
